ISLAND

2023 | BOTANICALS, SPICES, FRUIT & FLOWERS OF JAMAICA IN RESIN

| COFFEE TABLE

The "Island" coffee table intricately captures the island of Jamaica's topography. The table captures the vibrant essence of the islands' culture with plant and botanical waste materials in reflection of my Caribbean childhood. The organic shape of the tabletop and legs mimic the undulating hills and valleys which serves as a cultural mosaic that mirrors Jamaica's lush landscapes. This coffee table isn't just a piece of furniture, it's a sensory experience and personal celebration of Jamaican Heritage.

IMMERSED BOTANICA

2021 | 24” DIA

Immersed Botanical is a variety of botanical treasure frozen in time. These storytelling pieces allow viewers to be immersed with archival herbarium techniques that evoke the emotional connection of memory. The delicate details of the flowers engage viewers to touch. The power of touch is a movement that never ends. Making the physical experience memorable, sensational, and is a means of communication. These preserved forms display the way we are capable to preserve something synonymous with the ephemeral. Examining decay, loss, neglect, and fallen out of favor.
